Mangalore, Mar 19: The MSW department of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) celebrated its decennial celebrations at IT Hall of the college on Saturday March 19 with glorious function.

Dr V S Acharya, Minister for Higher Education, Karnataka was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion he said that wellbeing of the society and its empowerment is the ultimate tool of any education. He added that social imbalances can be corrected through by inculcating social ethics. He congratulated the MSW department on the occasion of completion of 10 years. He also released the sovereign on the occasion.
 
Fr Francis Serrao, provincial, Karnataka province in his presidential address said that every year new aspects could be incorporated in the syllabus of MSW course as it is a unique course which teaches the method of addressing the life. He urged collapse of democracy and secularism is a threat to the nation and that should be watched over carefully.
 
Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector, St Aloysian Institutions and Dr Joseph Wilson Lobo, director, international office Christ university, Bangalore were the guest of honor. Fr Joseph Rodrigues speaking on the occasion called upon the students to take up field work seriously. A cell of ‘Anti Addiction Activities’ was inaugurated. Dr Olinda Pereira and Upendra Hosabettu were honored to acknowledge their service to the society. The outstanding alumni were also felicitated.
 
Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal welcomed the gathering. Dr Lourdswamy, vice principal and Nataraj Urs, joint director, Department of Collegiate Education, Mangalore Region were present.
 
The programme was inaugurated by lighting ten lamps marking 10 years of successful term of the course. Prof Loveena – HOD, Shwetha Rasquinha, Pearl Barboza, Prof Gerald D’Silva, Dr Sandeep K, Bharathi K, and all MSW students relished the joyful celebration.
