Kundapur, Mar 16: Manjunath, a native of Hassan, who is working as a village accountant at Tekkatte in the taluk, was nabbed by the Lokayukta policemen, while accepting bribe for converting land from an individual. He was arrested from near the taluk office here on Tuesday March 15, on the basis of a complaint filed by Tekkatte Vikram Kamath.
Reportedly, Vikram Kamath had applied for converting seven cents of agricultural land standing in the name of his mother, Mohini, lining national highway, and the village accountant had collected Rs 8,000 as bribe in advance. Later, Manjunath had told Vikram to meet him near the taluk office to collect conversion documents, on payment of an additional sum of Rs 7,000. Vikram, enraged by this demand, complained to Udupi Lokayukta.
On Tuesday evening, the Lokayukta policemen raided and arrested Manjunath, when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from Vikram.
