Kadaba, Jun 23: The Korameru government higher primary school near Ichlampady in the taluk has been temporarily closed down due to shortage of students.
Kadaba block acting education officer Lokesh said, “Only three students had joined the school for the present academic year. So the school has been closed down temporarily. The three students have been admitted to a nearby school. If more students join the school, then it will be reopened.”
Keshava Gowda Korameru, a localite says, “The school was founded 38 years ago. The number of students joining the school began dwindling and now the school has been closed down. This should not have happened. Efforts should be made to revive the school.
The school ran classes from Grade one to five. One teacher of this school has been deputed elsewhere.
During the last academic year 14 schools including nine unaided schools were closed down.
