Udupi: Woman from Yellur Immolates Herself

Udupi, Mar 14: In an incident that occurred at Kunjoor Durganagar in Yellur village near Padubidri in the district on Friday March 13 afternoon, a woman doused her body with kerosene before setting herself ablaze. She has been identified as Rohini (32), wife of Ravichandra, from Kunjoor village.

When the family members were having lunch, Rohini, it is gathered, went inside the bath room and locked the door from inside. Then she emptied a kerosene can on herself before setting herself on fire. After seeing flames rising from the bath room, the neighbours rushed there and broke open the door. However, by then, Rohini had been completely burnt, and breathed her last, it is said.

Jaya, father of Ravichandra, who tried to save his daughter-in-law, also suffered burn injuries. He is being treated in a hospital in Kaup. A case was registered in Kaup police station in this regard.
