Byndoor, Jun 18: A bag containing gold worth Rs 18 lac was stolen from the Mumbai-Mangaluru bus as the bus was stopped for tea break at Shiroor.

Eshwar Dalichand Porwal (48), a resident of Maharashtra is the victim of this crime. He buys gold from Mumbai and Hyderabad and sells the same in Mangaluru for the past 10 years. Accordingly, he had purchased gold from various shops of Mumbai weighing 466.960 grams worth Rs 18 lac and had kept it in a steel box and was going to Mangaluru.

The driver of the bus stopped the vehicle for lunch at Neergadde of Shiroor. The cleaner of the bus told the passengers who were having lunch that some strangers boarded the bus, checked a bag and then escaped in a white colour car. Eshwar immediately rushed to the bus and checked the bag which he had kept below the seat in the bus and it was missing. When he checked in the luggage compartment of the bus his suitcase was found in open condition with lock broken. The gold that was kept inside the suitcase was stolen.

A case in this connection is registered in Byndoor police station.

    It may be handiwork of bus staff .now a days whilst getting down from bus for food,Conductor make everyone to leave the bus and lock it..how can stranger can open luggage compartment while it keys are with cleaner...

    I completely agree with your note. In December 2019 I was travelling from Mumbai to Mangalore operated by a reputed group carrying catholic surname and our bus halted for morning tea break in Byndoor. Whilst having our breakfast my father noticed some unknown people inside our parked bus and he started to shout and we all ran towards the bus and all of sudden a Suzuki white swift car approached on a full speed in a filmy style and these unknown people got into the car and fled before we could reach the bus. As we started to look for our stuff one of the passengers from Maharashtra complained of losing his bag consisting huge amount of cash and this passenger revealed that this cash belongs to his company which he collected from various jewelry shop owners . When we questioned bus staff the reason for not closing the doors they replied that its’ morning time and bus was parked very near to the hotel hence door was kept open .Later police Byndoor station came down, took that Maharashtrian passenger to the station to record the statement and whole this process took more than two hours .As bus started onwards journey towards Mangalore passengers started to discuss things like why bus gave stop that day specifically at Byndoor for tea brake which was not a regular point of stop, how those unknown people tracked the exact seat inside the bus and searched only for his luggage and took out the cash and many people suspected the possible nexus between gang, bus crew and that passenger carrying huge amount of company cash in a bus

    It is utterly foolish on the owners part to keep the valuables back in the bus; in all buses, the door is locked by the conductor after all passengers alight and nobody can sneak in; moreover in all modern buses CC TV cams are provided! In the context of all this, it appears to be a cock and bull story by the owner of the valuables!!

    Bus drivers and bus cleaner were involved in this theft, put bus staffs behind bar kick their ass they will vomit all the truth.

    It's a very sorry state of affairs for passenger travelling by bus whether it is the State government KSRTC or the private owned buses.While travelling to Bangalore or Mumbai the respective buses stop at irregular irrelevant places for breakfast,lunch or dinner or even to the washrooms. Many a times the washrooms are make shift places just supported with aluminium sheets in forest areas.This is a a big hurdle for passengers especially lady passengers .There is no privacy nor security for passengers things nor for one's own self. One will have to ease themselves without the use of water or absence of aa descent mug or water spray.Once passengers get down from the bus there is in security for their belongings. I, hope through a public appeal from Daijiworld.com these matters could be raised and commuters could be given better facilities for the amount paid.

Fishy . May be someone who knew . Usually i have seen if there are no passengers inside the bus then the cleaner locks the door or these are all automictic doors

    Harish mangalore exactly .that was my question also.Cleaner or driver mostly know their passengers .When strangers get inside the bus during passengers had gone to lunch or toilets ,it is their duty to watch out so that noone will enter or search in bags.They should ask strangers who they are their identification or ticket to show.why he didnt ask?Second these strangers know where buses are stopping ,so ready to make their hunting before passengers come in.The bus conductor or driver cant escape telling they are not responsible.Can file case why they raise alarm.allowing strangers letting inside.One know exactly when they search inside.Other side fellow who had gold bag inside had to be carefull when he went out.
