Chennai, March 12 (IANS) India's Parthiva Sureshwaran will return to Formula 2 for a second season in 2011.
The 31-year-old Chennai-born racer joined F2 in 2010 and scored his best result of the year at Monza, finishing 10th in race two to earn his maiden points finish. He went on to challenge for the points on several other occasions, notably finishing 12th at Zolder and 11th at Portimão.
"I'm very excited to return to F2 as I saw an improvement as the year went on in 2010. It was good to find my feet last year, but with the understanding of the car under my belt, I will look to be among the points from the start of the season," said Parthiva in a release Saturday.
Series chief Jonathan Palmer said: "I am delighted to have Parthiva back in F2 this year. He had been developing himself through 2010 and I look forward to seeing him deliver some good point scoring efforts through the year and maybe push for a podium or two."
Incidentally, Parthiva joins fellow-Chennaiite Armaan Ebrahim who is set for a third season in F2, having finished 10th in the championship last season.
