Mumbai, Mar 12 (IANS): Three Japanese designers showcased their collections under the name "Tokyoeye" for the first time on an Indian platform during the Lakme Fashion Week.In association with the Japan Fashion Week, the Tokyoeye show was a unique cultural exchange initiated by the country's ministry of economic trade and industry that gave Indians an opportunity to view the fashion talents of Japan.

Tamae Hirokaro, Motonari Ono and Sara Arai unveiled their creations on the catwalk for Summer/Resort 2011.

"I was so pleased to do this show because I could put together a collection which was based on the cultural exchange between India and Japan," said Arai.

Arai's collection was a mix of tradition and fashion inspired by culture, scenery and nature as well as the look of the Orient. It featured maxis, dresses and skirts.

On the other hand, Ono's collection featured jackets, trousers and dresses and Hirokava showed a line that revealed form-fitted creations.

"Here the fashion week is full of glamour and designs and very exciting. Much more exciting than even in Japan," Ono said.

Tokyoeye is a project initiated by Japan's ministry of economy, trade and industry, which supports Japanese fashion brands in their expansion abroad. Showcasing a collection in India was a step in that direction.
