Mangaluru, Jun 12: A minor boy ended his life in a hostel on Sunday, June 12 as the warden allegedly did not provide him a mobile phone to wish his mother on her birthday.
It is said that the warden did not provide the mobile phone as per the rules and regulations in the hostel.
Reportedly, the boy who was pained by this, hung himself after writing a death note.
The incident has been reported from Sharada Vidhya Nikethan, Kinya, under the Ullal police station limits.
The deceased is identified as Poorvaj (14), a resident of Hosakote, Bengaluru.
It is said that June 11 was his mother's birthday. When he requested for a mobile phone with the hostel warden to wish his mother, the latter allegedly refused. Though his family members tried to contact Poorvaj 14 times over the phone, he was not allowed to speak.
Poorvaj was reportedly seen upset till 12 midnight. Later, he took the extreme step, allege the family members.
The other students in the hostel who found him dead in the morning brought it to the notice of the hostel management. In the evening the family members reached the hostel.
Ullal police visited at the spot.
An excerpt from Poorvaj's death note in English reads, "Happy birthday mom. Miss you. I love you mom. I am dying. Please. Be happy and take my fees from this school. Please be happy."
