Mangaluru, Jun 12: A minor boy ended his life in a hostel on Sunday, June 12 as the warden allegedly did not provide him a mobile phone to wish his mother on her birthday.

It is said that the warden did not provide the mobile phone as per the rules and regulations in the hostel.

Reportedly, the boy who was pained by this, hung himself after writing a death note.

The incident has been reported from Sharada Vidhya Nikethan, Kinya, under the Ullal police station limits.

The deceased is identified as Poorvaj (14), a resident of Hosakote, Bengaluru.

It is said that June 11 was his mother's birthday. When he requested for a mobile phone with the hostel warden to wish his mother, the latter allegedly refused. Though his family members tried to contact Poorvaj 14 times over the phone, he was not allowed to speak.

Poorvaj was reportedly seen upset till 12 midnight. Later, he took the extreme step, allege the family members.

The other students in the hostel who found him dead in the morning brought it to the notice of the hostel management. In the evening the family members reached the hostel.

Ullal police visited at the spot.

An excerpt from Poorvaj's death note in English reads, "Happy birthday mom. Miss you. I love you mom. I am dying. Please. Be happy and take my fees from this school. Please be happy."

    If the boy has written the sucide note than why he didn't mention the reason in it? He got the time to write the family names with details but not the reason behind his sucide. Something strange.. also why signature?? Top part of the note is not aligned and after the line check the difference also not spelling mistakes can be found.

    Really its a sad incident. Going through the above comments, Some will say its parents mistake by sending the kids to hostel. Someone will say its warden or school authority for strictness as per school management rules and regulaion. As pe my view, Kids will admitted sent to strict schools by the parents for thier kid's better education and better future. Now a days in this digital era, parents find difficult to make their kids to concentrate on education at home due to this mobile and tv. So hostels run a key roll in this. Some ppl will blame hostel for this incident. When parents cant control one or two kids, how hostel staffs will control 100s of students without any strict rules??. Here my humble requst to hotel or school admistration, please study the students who came long way from their home. There will be homesick which cant detach at one or 10 days time. Your roll is much important by good atmosphere alont with the strictness. So that student will adjust to the new atmosphere soon. Every new students need to observed very closely and taken measures in good way that, parents will be happier with institution as their kid's 2nd home. Strict rules and humanity should be at 70:30 ratio.

    Note: The school allows the child to speak to his/her parents only twice a month for 10mins with each phone call 14 days gap. This is true for any hostel student from class 5-12.

    My views the boy would have asked the warden to provide the phone to call his parent's and may be arguments occurred and the boy was hit and passed away on the spot to save the name of the instuation rest of the script followed.

    Dear All, Upset to see this sad news. Feel like crying loudly. I wish parents, Teachers, School Administration should pay attention to the the changing needs of the latest generation kids. They are totally living in a different environment compared what was there two decades back. Each and every individual/entity/Organization should be sensitive towards others need. A lot needs to be changed in mind set front. Wake up call for the older generation people. Other we all will loose

    Comments above mention , blaming the school, addiction to the phone , etc Parents should see to it that , their children are they mature enough for the bording school, not everyone can stay seperated , not all minds are same . Similarly it's time that all boarding school evaluates on admission if the child is mentally strong enough to stay by himself, they should accept full fee only after atleast two months of noting child's behaviour by both parents and school. Another issue would be staff number , warden can take care of only certain number of students beyond which it is difficult for a sincere warden , leave alone the ones who just watch cricket from hostel. Rip may this never happen again.

    Flavian Kuwait,You are sooo right.I am sure boy was not happy in hostel.Atleast he wanted to contact his mother on her mother ,or gave no chance to get contact with relatives made him sad and fees question was too another matter ,which I find disturbing.I am sure warden was not a favourite among boys ?Feel so sad .Such a small thing lead to his death.May his soul rest in peace .Why the small boy was kept away from his house in boarding ?People sometimes think about childrens emotional stage before they send ?children to boarding .Heartache .

    My sympathies to the parents. They have lost a young son. Many questions unanswered. Last time there was one death at Alva's Moodbidre. Not sure what happened. People made noise for few days, politicians visited deceased Kavya's family but no action.

    This is not the first time. Most of the time these matters are closed. No one will know what the real reason is. Parents come to mangalore and join their ward for better education. But in return they get a dead son. Slowly Mangalore education is becoming a money making hub for all . Just see the fee they charge in the name of 'facility they provide'. It's all normal colleges same chairs same tables but the outer building and campus will be vibrant. Seeing this the parents fall prey.

    K b r ji..... before that lets say why parents had to send the child to Mangaluru, a totally unique atmosphere for him?? Ninth std boy and next year 10th ...Bengaluru, there are so many schools where parents could take admissions and could look after him well. This age, may be he was addicted for mobile.....Parents must have warned warden to be stricter with him. All the rules/regulations must have been informed to the parents. If parents cant guide the child then no hostel ...no rules....There are so many instances where parents are very negligent and carelessness towards the students. Some students were saying, parents especially some mothers do not like and even shout, if boys/girls go home before the scheduled time...if they get free hour or no class in the afternoon..... What you want to hear further more?

    readers should just think why this boy, who is from a city like bengaluru was sent to mangalore to study??? secondly observe the photograph of the boy. he is smart. definitely there is much more here than what looks to bare eyes. I am sad that he has lost his life. seems that he could not be controlled by parents at home so was put in hostel..simply blaming the warden or school authorities is not right. again i am not supporting the school management but my gut feeling is that something deeper is missing...hope it comes out soon in investigation

    It is said solitary confinement is one of the worst punishments .. Worse than torture .. So this young boy unfortunately although hostel might have some standards And of repute is in a village ...since he has come from Bangalore.. No proper friends to share day to day issues .. Parents away .. In a sort of solitary confinement mentally and not able to call was the final tipping point ... Extremely sad .. painful to hear this .. For what purpose young boys and girls put under such stress .. Everyday should Have been joyful .. purposeful.. all round growth Like ... Studies ..sports . Exercise ...music .. outdoors .. books ..

    The main culprit is the head of the management who always lecture these kids everyday about Indian culture and how using phone is a western culture bla bla and poor wardens have to listen to them....One of my relative's son admitted at this residential school tells how terrible the managemnt is which does not give basic freedom to kids but rules rules rules ...samskirti and all bull s...Plus huge fees...no human values practiced in this place....     Reading comments like punish the school management, firstly we have to punish ourselves because, hig we brought this situation, high madness is kicked in already, searching for super hyper advanced schools, loading kids with more and more tutions and gadgets and all sort of mentaly distructing activities for the kids, then comes the boarding schools, this madness keeps increasing. just go back to the history and see how kids where thought and how they became great intellectuals.     Prohibiting children from calling their near and dear ones till the late nineties would be ok. But now when we have so much of free calls and technology children should be allowed one call a month for 3 to 4 minutes or else learn to write a letter to wish someone. The school is it a military camp, or a radical Institute. The school should change according to the times. Very sad by the way.

    Sharada is the worst place to put your children in hostel. Wardens are bullies who like torturing students. Management should take responsibility for death of the child. They lure the parents by talking about culture and shit and put goons as wardens. Why force children to be in such places. We can clearly see the child's frustration staying at such hostel.

    This is a trajic incident, one that is hard for the family to come to terms. Its puzzling ans painful to see children taking such attrocious decisions to end their precious life. Either they are going through a mental illness like depression or they are unaware of the value of life. Never a fan of hostel wardens or corporal punishment in schools, things used to very bad back in the days. Kids in convent schools had suffered heavily under the cane, both physically and mentally, such punishments is now almost prohibitted. Children today are thin skinned and get easily offended. Anyways, warden needs to be grilled by the cops as to know what kind of words.he has used against the child.

    Why people disagree with k b r ji. Understand yhe the facts and reality. He said the truth. Parents, its only you ppl can train yoir child neither the hostel nor punishment. Understand them....just few dsys before i got a news from reliable source that one boy was given a mobile costing more than a lac....!! That boy was using that mobile in the classroom and distracted other classmates. Why parents present so costly mobiles, bmw cars when they just study. Let them work and take whatever they want.     Two bad things combined to unfurl this disaster. First the warden must be a typical fundamentalist who does not like Birthday celebrations and children calling parents on mobile. Second, parents obliged to put away young children in hostels because their busy schedule does not allow them to look after children. I am not going to squarely blame the parents here, unless i understand under what circumstances they put their child in this situation.
