Mangaluru, June 2: The Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths conducted a raid on Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) office on Thursday, June 2. The sleuths paid a surprise visit to the the office of Ateeq Rehman, assistant executive engineer of the corporation accused of demanding a bribe.
The ACB team swung into action based on a complaint by Jayalingappa, son of Kallappa, Mandarabail, Konchadi against AEE Ateeq Rehman who had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 to approve his work bill.
Ateeq Rehman fell into the ACB net red-handed while receiving a bribe money in the evening of Thursday. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of ACB police station Dakshina Kannada ASP K C Prakash by police inspector Gururaj, Sham Sunder H M, staff Hariprasad, Radhakrishna K, Radhakrishna D A, Umesh, Vaishali, Ganganna, Adarsh, Rakesh, Bharath and Mohan Salian under guidance from ACB western zone SP C A Simon.
The team of officials is scrutinizing the department records.
