Muscat : 'Meet the Future' – An Innovative Career Guidance Workshop by MCCP

Muscat, Mar 3: 'Meet the Future” – an innovative and first of its kind program was presented by the Executive Committee of the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish ( MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) for MCCP members. The leaders of MCCP continued the presentation of the finest programs of this year and this time it was an enthralling program of educational and career guidance workshop for the young children and their parents of the Mangalorean community in Muscat.  This unique was held recently at the Main Parish Hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi from 11 am onwards.  As one of the participant rightly said – “ As usual, MCCP Executive team of this year is assembling tremendous resources, energy and efforts to present many beneficial programs for the members and certainly the “Meet the Future” program is one among them.  Members of the other communities are attending these sort of programs presented in the luxury hotels by paying entry fees. We, the members of the Mangalorean Community, are lucky to have this kind of program for our members. Unfortunately, it is sad to observe that our members are not keen to avail the opportunities offered to them. ”


















































“Meet the Future” program commenced with a welcome address by Monica Dantis, president of MCCP.  This program was a brainchild of Monica Dantis and completely planned and controlled by Cyprian Misquith – Vice President : Finance and Sports committees.  In her speech Monica expressed her joy of presenting the unique program of that nature for the members. She also briefed the need of such programs for our community which inspires the enhancement of the overall growth.

There were three experienced speakers presented their versatile speeches to guide the children to select the available opportunities in the educational sectors in India and abroad.

Dr. Norbert Lobo, Ph.D, M.Phil & M.A in Economics, Masters in Human Resource Management, Associate Professor of Economics, Coordinator of Post  Graduate Dept of Economics, St. Aloysius College, (Autonomous) Mangalore was the main speaker and spoke on various issues relating to career counseling and guidance for students in selecting the right educational courses.
 
Jacob Varghese, B.Tech (Hons)(IIT), MBA, LLB, Diploma in Environmental Management, prominent Toastmaster, Accredited Auditor for Clean Development Mechanism under Kyoto Protocol, Corporate HSE Auditor, PDO explained the lucrative and vast opportunities in the Oil and Gas Sector around the world.

Richard Lopes, General Manager - Business Services, IMTAC, Engineering background with Advance Diploma in Marketing and Sales from   NIIT, India and Diploma in Management Practices Level V from Australian Institute of Management - Australia spoke about the Admission Process from Muscat / Abroad.

Cyprian Misquith – Vice President : Finance and Sports Committees, introduced the speakers and conducted the proceedings. Celine D Souza – Community Services Secretary proposed the vote of thanks

All the Executive Committee team members,  Cyprian Misquith,  Lancy Thomas Lobo,  Nancy Vaz, Simon D’Souza,  Jacintha Serrao,  Alexander Sequeira, Deepak Ranjan D’Souza, Reena Lobo and Celine D’Souza, had worked relentlessly for the success of this program under the leadership of Monica Dantis. The Mangalorean Community of Oman should be grateful to them and to their efforts.

    Thank you Mr. Clarence Pinto and Mr. Dilip Correo for your wonderful support towards covering the program. The program was educational and all the speakers did a great job, mind you two of the speakers were not from our community, but gave their service without hesitation. Dr. Norbert Lobo, who was specialy flown in from Mangalore, India was a township of information, great guidance coach. The presence of His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder, Archbishop of the Vicariate of Arabia during the program and his blessings to all was an experience for all of us.

    A very informative workshop which incorporated educational elements from petroleum & gas sector too making it more meaningful & an open dialogue of question & answer session between parents/ speakers was superb. Presentation of slides with explanation on each slide was very useful & up to the mark. All in all, great job, lot of homework done by speakers and finally Hats off to you guys for a wonderful presentation. Thanks Dr. Norbert Lobo, Mr. Jacob Varghese & Mr. Richard Lopes for sharing your knowledge & sparing valuable time for our kids. Parents confusion of proceeding after 10th / 12th with their kids have definitely been simplified now !!! Thank you......
