Bengaluru, May 22: “Leave offices and visit areas that are destroyed because of rain. Achieve coordination between various departments. No leave for any official for the next 15 days,” said chief minister Bommai while giving strict instructions to the government officials to deal with any calamity that might arise due to rain.
Bommai held a video conference with the DCs, ZP CEOs and SPs on Saturday. He asked the officials to give more priority towards emergency works and relief to those who are affected by rains.
Bommai said, “PDO and village accountants should report to the site of damage immediately with a photographer, inspect the spot and record information about the house damage. Details of damaged houses should not be neglected. At the same time, unnecessary inclusion of other houses should not be done. Engineers of PWD and Panchayat Raj should be used for the survey.”
The main points that were discussed during the video conferencing included no delay in processing files related to floods, immediate relief to totally destroyed houses as per NDRF guidelines, inspection of loss of human lives and cattle, fundamental infrastructure damage, opening of relief centers as per need and medical examination, joint survey by agricultural, horticultural and revenue department with regards to crop and house damage, draining of excess water systematically from dams, giving forewarning to people living in low lying areas and making arrangements to shift them to safer places, precaution to be taken on villages that convert into Islands in Raichur and Yadagiri districts and caution on increase in water levels in river and dams.
