Bantwal, Feb 22: ‘Jeevanth Santhin’, a Konkani audio visual presentation based on the life of Blessed Mother Theresa, was staged by White Doves ®, a Mangalore-based NGO engaged in sheltering the destitute, especially the street children, at Infant Jesus parish ground, Modankap, near here on Sunday February 20 evening. The show was organized by Modankap parish council in aid of the medical relief fund of the parish.
Over 3,000 people watched the programme with rapt attention, as scenes from Mother Teresa’s life unfolded before their eyes through songs and dialogues in the show spread over 28 drama scenes covering about three hours. The triple-stage that was put up at Modankap parish school ground, coupled with the powerful acting, provided glimpse of Mother Theresa’s spiritual-life and many of her great works of love, to the audience.
The cause captivated the hearts of the parishioners, prompting them to contribute generously. Though most of the families are poor, the parish could raise Rs 10 lac for the project. The sheer goodwill of the people seemed like another miracle having occurred by the powerful appeal of Mother Theresa’s name and a cause that was dear to her heart.
Bantwal deanery vicar and Modankap parish priest, Fr Roque D’Souza, felicitated local Congress leader and Modankap parishioner, Dolphy Prashanth D’Souza, on this occasion.
