Karkala, Feb 21: The four- day long annual festival of Mahalingeshwara temple, Nakre near here was celebrated with piety and various religious rituals, recently.
The Utsav was offered motion by hoisting the flag. The chief priests of the temple Ramesh Bhat and Ramadas Udupa performed the Bali Pooja. Mahapuja and various religious rituals were held at the temple for four days along with free food offerings to devotees.
Various types of worship and rituals were conducted on all days of the festival. On the final day, Lord Mahalingeshwara was taken out for 'Jalaka Seve' and 'Katte Pooje' to Nakre Varnabettu House. Following this 'Dhoomavati' and 'Dhoomavati Banta' welcomed Lord Mahalingeshwara and went for 'katte pooje'.
‘Thambila Seve’ was offered to Lord Naga and other deities. Puttur Shree Hayavadana Tantri led the festivities with the cooperation of temple trustee N Vishwanath Nayak and villagers of Nakre.
The four-day festivities concluded with lowering the flag. The devotees present in large numbers marked the success of the festival.
