Udupi, Feb 19: Jagajeevandas Shetty(65), veteran political leader, philanthropist and Entrepreneur passed away in a tragic road accident that occurred near Sastan on NH 17 here on Friday February 18.
The deceased Jagajevandas was driving his car from Kota to Brahmavar when his car hit a pedestrian at Sastan and later hit a stone on NH 17. It’s due to the impact of hitting the tyre burst and the car plunged into gutter and his head hit the windshield since he did not wear a seat belt. Although, he was taken to the KMC Hospital, Manipal, he breathed his last.
Jagajeevandas was an entrepreneur, progressive farmer and a philanthropist. He is survived by one daughter and local BJP leader Jeevan Shetty.
He was the honorary president of Yaksha Kala Ranga, president of Chethana High School, Hangarakatte, Nittoor High School, Cherkady Sharada High School, Kokkarne Anitha Vidhyalaya, chairman of Kota Charmakki Narayan Shetty Memorial Lions Eye Hospital Trust and trustee of Jagajeevandas Shetty Barkoor Vidhyabivardhini Sangh.
He was the founder president of Brahmavar Bantara Yane Nadavara Sangha. He was the president of Muduganapaty temple renovation committee, Mabukula and Gopalakrishna temple renovation committee, Handady.
He was the owner of Navajeevana Tile Works, Ambagilu and Chirayu Springs, Kudugodu.
Brahmavar S M S College, Cherkady Sharada High School, Kokkarne Anitha Vidhyalaya announced holiday in honour of the deceased benefactor Jagajeevandas Shetty.
The last rites will be held at Kudrugodi, Brahmavar, near here on Saturday February 20.
