Bantwal, Feb 16: Sr Agatha Mary, Apostolic Carmel Superior General, inaugurated the new building of Carmel College, Modankap, here on Wednesday February 16.
Mangalore diocesan vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu blessed the new building. Sr Agatha Mary and Mangalore University vice-chancellor Dr T C Shivashankaramurthy were chief guests on the occasion.
Karnataka provincial superior Sr M Linette AC, MLA B Ramanath Rai, Bantwal town panchayat president B Dinesh Bhandary, Modankap parish preist Fr Roque D’Souza and Apostolic Carmel Educational Society secretary Sr Edna Furtado AC were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr T C Shivashankarmurthy said that Apostolic Carmel Educational Society that manages the Carmel College has developed the infrastructure immensely in a short span of time. The college has also recorded good results in the examinations, he added.
MLA B Ramanath Rai said that the Carmel College has excellent infrastructural facility in the entire Bantwal taluk. Meanwhile, he urged the state authorities to develop infrastructural facilities in the government colleges in the taluk.
Carmel College principal Prof H S Fernandes was present on the dais. The variety cultural programme was also held after the stage programme.
Sr Maria Gloria welcomed the gathering. Sr Maria Naveena proposed the vote of thanks. Sr Noreen D’Souza compered the programme.
