Bengaluru, May 3: Home ministry of Karnataka is taking steps to de addict the alcoholic officers and personnel of traffic, law and order of the city, who were misbehaving with public and senior officers.
Information of such alcoholic officers and staff should be given by station officers or ACP level officers to DCP of administrative section of city police office. At least eight to 10 people have to be selected and sent to K S Hegde charitable trust in Mangaluru under the in-charge of PSI or ASI. They will be under deaddiction programme for 10 days.
In the past month 26 officers and personnel of Bengaluru city got treated and are back on duty. Right now another batch of eight personnel is sent for de addiction to Mangaluru. The process is continuously followed under the leadership of DCP Nisha James.
City police commissioner Kamal Pant says, “Officials and personnel of police department, who were consuming liquor on duty, are de addicted by giving treatment in phases. We are doing people-friendly work through this programme.”
