Moily Blames Shourie, Mahajan for 2G Mess

Hubli (Karnataka), Feb 15 (IANS) Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily Monday blamed the policies of Pramod Mahajan and Arun Shourie, former communications ministers in the NDA government, for the 2G spectrum allocations scandal.

"UPA (the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government) cannot be faulted (for the scandal)," he told reporters here, a day after Shourie said he would appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to give his version of the developments surrounding the allocation of the airwaves. Hubli is about 400 km from Bangalore.

Moily asserted the UPA government had followed the policy formulated in 2001 by the National Democratic Alliance government in 2G spectrum allocation.

He said the spectrum was "allocated as per the guidelines formulated by NDA government, by Pramod Mahajan and Arun Shourie when they were telecom ministers".

The late Mahajan was communications minister between 2001-2003 and Shourie succeeded him.

Shourie has denied any wrongdoing by him and asserted that UPA had not followed the policy he had laid down.

The 2G spectrum allocation scam has resulted in resignation of communications minister A. Raja, who belongs to DMK. He has been arrested with two others and is undergoing interrogation by the CBI.

What Mr. Moily has confined is true to a very great extent based on the information and the persons integrity.
    1. Under NDA govt. many govt. sector has been privatized and the guidelines has been drafted by NDA govt. ministrial dept. which is completely true which includes the 2G spectrum allocations.
    2. During 2004 national election, I read in one of the Indian English news paper that when BJP office executives approached the MNC Companies for election funds, then they were advised the money has been already collected by Late Pramod Mahajan and he has collected more than 1,000 cores.
Based on the style of functioning of late Mahajan, what Mr. Moily had said has some truth. This doesn’t mean Mr. Raja of the Ex telecom minister is not corrupt. Unfortunately in India the complete system in corrupt. After all politicians are birds of the same feather

Instead of the blame-game punish all the culprits, irrespective of their party affiliations. Wipe out corruption from the grass-root level and also create an independent commission to check the politicians and the Govt servants from amassing ill-gotten wealth through misuse of their given power by the people.
