Apr 29: The Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC) court at Mapusa has ordered that an First Information Report (FIR) be filed in the murder of Neha Mulagalapalli (23), a native of Telangana against 6 accused by its order dated April 8.
The Calangute police who were investigating the case have filed an FIR against Poosapati Prudhvi, Dandu Sravanthi, Dr. K. Karthik, Sujay, Sampreeth and Dolly.
Neha Mulagalapalli had come to Goa on a trip with the accused. “She went to a club on September 26, 2021. She later complained about uneasiness and not feeling well. The accused did not take her or summon a doctor, but took her to the hotel where she died suspiciously”, according to the plea presented to the Court.
Calangute police had filed a case of ‘unnatural death’. The father of the victim Dr. Mulagalapilli Phani Kumar moved court pleading that the Calangute police be directed to file a case of murder.
On the basis of Court directions the Calangute Police have filed a case of murder.
The court held that merely because the police registered an unnatural death case, “it does not prevent them from registering the complaint of the complainant, in which he has named the suspects involved in the said crime,” the court said.
“The offence alleged is under Section 302 of IPC and is a cognisable offence. No ground is made out for the is made out for the refusal of registration of FIR by the police”, judicial magistrate first class at Mapusa, Shilpa Pandit said.
According to the complaint filed by the father to the police, “At 12am on September 26, the parents made a video call to wish her and during the call she spoke to friends and family till 1 am. At 6:30 am the father received a call from the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Calangute stating that his daughter was ‘brought dead’ to the facility. The father in his complaint alleged that three people had visited his daughter in Candolim and took her to a beach resort in Mojrim at 1;15 am. They returned with Neha Mulagalapalli at around 5 am in an unconscious state following which her cousin rushed her to the PHC. She did not suffer from any ailments”.
