Apr 26: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant today reviewed the ongoing projects taken up by the Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), and directed that they be completed on time.
The Chief Minister reviewed a total of 51 projects, each of which costs a minimum of Rs 5 crore. The total cost of the projects he reviewed is around Rs 300 crore.
The projects including the construction of the district court in Merces, Tar bridge in Mapusa, Kala Bhavan in Sancoale, Ravindra Bhavans in Curchorem and Canacona, Piakul bridge in Valpoi (which was washed away due to floods),
the terminal building of the Captain of Ports in Panaji, the pedestrian bridge at Patto and Bhoma market complex. He assured that the Piakul bridge will be repaired immediately and on a war footing.
“We have decided to complete the ongoing projects as soon as possible,” he said. “We have not taken up any new projects, including related to health and schools will be completed. I have issued instructions to make financial provisions to complete the projects.”
He said, Vice Chairman GSIDC and Mapusa MLA Joshua Peter De Souza will take up his post soon. “He is not angry with the post”, Pramod Sawant said.
He appealed to setup a time frame for each project and provide list of projects which are near completion. Chief Minister instructed to prepare a list of all projects, with the quantum of fund by Central Government and instructed to make inspection of the projects along with concerned Department.
GSIDC is a wholly owned the Government of Goa. GSIDC is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for speedy implementation of all the Infrastructural Projects, envisaged by the Government like Roads, Bridges, Fly-Overs, Bus-Stands, Hospitals, Tourism related Projects, etc., all over the State. The objective of GSIDC is infrastructure development in Goa. GSIDC carries out implementations of projects entrusted to it by the government through its consultant and contractors.
