Bengaluru, Apr 26: Karnataka will create 55 lakh jobs in the next 5 years, including 30 lakh in in the unorganized sector and another 5 lakh each annually in the software sector, Higher Education, IT/BT and Skills Development Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayana said on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the Job Fair organized by the Skills Development Department at the Malnad Engineering College in Hassan, he expressed his happiness at the participation of 80 leading companies in the job fair in which over 5,000 job-seekers had taken part.
Dr Narayan said 2,000 employment opportunities were locally available and urged the youth to make use of the opportunities.
Human resources were highly sought after field in the employment sector, he said. The State’s economy is likely to jump four-fold in future, and therefore, it is necessary to get prepared.
The minister said the State Government is determined to bring comprehensive reforms in the polytechnics and as many 150 institutions have already been upgraded. The government will give a boost to apprenticeship and urged the youth to get trained to find suitable jobs.
MLA Preetham Gowda, College Principal Dr Venkatesh, State Skills Development Corporation Managing Director Ashwin Gowda, Hassan Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Kantharaju and others were present.
