Puttur, Apr 22: In a tragic incident that occurred on the night of April 20 a man, who was sleeping on the footpath near Mahalingeshwara temple, died as a car drove over him.
Shivananda Hegde, resident of Purusharakatte, had parked his Maruti Ertiga car on the private road near Mahalingeshwara temple. When he started the car and drove off in the night, the car went over a man who was sleeping just by the side of it. The name and identity of the deceased is not known. He had conch and metal instrument (Jagate) which is used by Dasaiahs (People who roam from house to house begging for food or money).
The deceased is wearing a dark blue shirt and saffron lungi. He has Rudraksh mala and black thread on his neck. In the bag which he had, conch and Jagate were found.
Puttur police have requested public to contact them in case anyone comes to know about the identity of the deceased person.
