Bantwal, Feb 4: The rural police arrested two alleged persons in Praveen Miranda (31) murder case at Kariangala village, here on Thursday February 3.
The arrested have been identified as Shekar Poojary Alias Kakke (22) and Neelu Alias Nilayya Poojary, both residents of Ayyanakatte in Kariangala village.
The dead body of Praveen, a resident of Mittakody in Kariangala village was found in the plantation owned by a certain Sadashiv. The rural police have registered a case in this regard.
The police in a swift action nabbed the duo at Gurpur – Kaikamba that comes under the jurisdiction of Mangalore town. The deceased Praveen had served a prison term for few months for stabbing the accused Shekar Poojary during Polali Jatra in 2009.
Praveen under the influence of alcohol again began the verbal abuse with Shekar on Tuesday, February 1 at night, when Shekar hit Praveen’s head with a solid wood helped by Nilayya. The duo confessed to the police of committing the heinous act.
The rural sub-inspector Mohammed Rafiq Tahsildar, police personnel Jagdish, Uday Gowda, Anil Lobo, Umesh, Girish and driver Mohan were involved in the operation that was carried out under the direction of circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda.
