Panaji: Police arrest local man for raping minor

Panaji, Apr 11: Cajie Bogot, a resident of Curtorim, was arrested by the Maina Curtorim police on Sunday, April 10 on charges of raping a 15-year-old minor girl.

Police sources said that the accused had been sexually assaulting the girl over the last two years, whenever she would go to his house to fill and fetch water, leading to the minor getting pregnant.

The accused has been arrested under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, section 8 (2) of Goa Childrens Act and Sections 4 and 5 (i) (ii) of Protection of Children of Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Further investigations in the case are under way.
