Panaji, Apr 4: Issues of construction on hill slopes, mega projects, and water supply problems dominated a marathon gram sabha of Curca-Bambolim-Telaulim panchayat.
The meeting turned into a noisy affair which was chaired by sarpanch Verodiana D'Souza. St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar was also present for the meeting. The members questioned the approvals given to a few projects at Curca and Goalim-Moula area.
One of the first issues to be raised was the construction of some bungalows in a no development zone (NDZ) on the Curca hill slope. A member, Manguesh Kuttikar, said that the area was shown as NDZ in RP 2021.
The members alleged that the parties resorted ot alleged illegal hill-cutting and despite requests for inspection, the panchayat did not carry out any. After a long discussion, the members resolved to take the matter to the court. Members from Goalim-Moula area also raised an issue about a couple of projectsand demanded that approvals issued to them be revoked. The villagers were critical of hardships faced due to inadequate supply of drinking water .
