San Francisco, Apr 1 (IANS): The organisers at the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has confirmed that the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo has been cancelled entirely for this year.
The ESA had initially planned for an in-person E3 event this year after having no event in 2020 due to Covid-19 and a digital one in 2021.
The ESA in a statement to Polygon said that E3 2022 had been fully cancelled.
"We previously announced that E3 would not be held in person in 2022 due to the ongoing health risks surrounding Covid-19. Today, we announce that there will also be no digital E3 showcase in 2022," the organisation said in a statement.
The ESA also confirmed that E3 2023 will be held in Los Angeles.
"E3 will return in 2023 with a reinvigorated showcase that celebrates new and exciting video games and industry innovations," the organisation added.
E3 2021 featured participation from game companies including Nintendo, Ubisoft, Xbox, Square Enix, Capcom, and Warner Bros, and was free to watch.
