Bengaluru, Mar 30: Some right wing organizations have now been giving a call for boycotting the halal meat. In the meanwhile, BJP national general secretary C T Ravi, has equated halal food to economic jihad.
Several messages, particularly in social media, have been requesting the Hindus to boycott halal meat particularly on the new year festival, Ugadi.
Ugadi is the beginning of a new year. Many sacrifice animals to gods. In shops too meat business becomes brisker. The Muslims therefore engage in doing the halal cut and some right wing organizations are requesting the people to shun it. This call has come in the wake of the demand to keep away Muslim traders from the Hindu fairs. Ravi says that halal is an economic jihad where all activities connected with it are rendered by the Muslims. He also says there is nothing wrong in rejecting halal meat when there is insistence from the Muslims on using it.
Ravi explains that halal meat which is first offered to the god is holy for the Muslims but for the Hindus it is like consuming the food that has already been tasted by someone else. He said that halal products are designed in such a way that these products have to be bought only from the Muslims and not others. "What right do the Muslims have to urge the Hindus to buy meat from the Muslims, in the light of the fact that the Muslims refuse to buy meat from the Hindus.
In reply to a question on boycotting halal meat, Ravi said that the Hindus can use Halal meat if the Muslims are prepared to consume meat that is not halal.
