Mangalore, Jan 24: A J Institue of f Management (AJIM), a unit of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust (LMET) organized a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Modern approaches to academic research and publications’ in collaboration with Indian Overseas Bank, Hampankatta Branch, recently.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr Ravi Vasvani, senior professor, Yenepoya University. In his inaugural address he stresses on the importance of research. He also highlighted that research should not been undertaken for promotion or for increments, instead research should be an innovative effort and should contribute to the well-being of the society.
The presidential remark was proposed by professor (Dr) G R Krishnamurthy, professor and advisor, AJIM. He said that research should be done out of heart and not by compulsion.
Dr T Jayaprakash Rao, director, AJIM welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. Professor Vijay Kumar, dean, academic affairs, AJIM, gave an insight into technical sessions of the FDP. The co-ordinator of the Faculty Development Programme, professor Robin Shinde, Faculty of AJIM proposed the vote of thanks. Professor Candida Quadros, Faculty of AJIM was the master of ceremony.
Dr Mallikarjunappa, professor, Mangalore University: Dr P S Yadapadithaya, registrar, Mangalore University, Dr Ramachandra Bhat, professor, College of Fisheries, Sucharitha Suresh, assistant professor, Father Mullers Medical College, Dr G V Joshi, professor, Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management and Dr Ganesh Bhat, professor of Commerce, St Mary's College Shirva were the resource persons.
The workshop was partenered by St Mary's College, Shirva, Govinda Dass College, Surathkal, Besant Evening College, Mangalore and Crossland College, Brahmavar. Over 75 faculty members from various institutes of the state participated as delegates.
