Panaji, Mar 21: Pre-Synodal meeting of the archdiocese of Goa and Daman was held at Old Goa as a precursor to the meeting of the Synod of Bishops to be held in Rome. Nearly 400 people from Goa, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli were present in the meeting.

The importance of communion among the people was highlighted by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao in the address to the faithfuls. He said, “Trinity is rooted with the Holy Communion and this should help us to be in communion with each other, which leads to service of every one.”

Catholics and people from other denominations were consulted to evaluate the functioning of the church and its faithful. That is why this meeting was held. Suggestions and criticism of the church functioning was sought openly by the faithful.

A final vision statement was drawn after holding deliberation over various matters.

The Pro-Synod Meeting should be held in every parish of the diocese. The very purpose of declaring this synod is to seek construction criticism and improvement in the Catholic Church. Here, we are ignorant about this. Will the Bishop apprise us?
