Bantwal: Loretto School Celebrates Centenary Joy Coupled with Golden Jubilee of Fr Cyprian

Bantwal, Jan 17: Loretto Aided Higher Primary School celebrated its centenary year along with the golden jubilee celebration of Fr Cyprian Pinto, parish priest, our Lady of Loretto church, here on Monday, January 17.
A solemn mass with four priests heralded the centenary emblem of Loretto Aided Higher Primary School. But the honour of unveiling the emblem was given to Bantwal regional education officer K Sudhakar which read ‘educated citizen is nation’s resource’.
Speaking on the occasion he stressed on the importance of education in forming children and society at large. Joseph Rodricks retired assistant director of public education department wished all success for the school.
Benedict Fernandes, head master of St Andrews higher primary school, Sornadu and Jude Coelho, vice- president of parish council wished Fr Cyprian who celebrated his golden jubilee, on behalf of school and the parish.
MSGR Denis Moras Prabhu felicitated Fr Cyprian Pinto on his birthday. Accepting the honour, Fr Cyprian Pinto thanked everyone for their extended support in his endeavour.
On the same occasion ‘Thurbenth’ special publication was released by Belgium entrepreneur Alexis Menezes. His wife Irene Alexis Menezes was also present. Following this, there was felicitation by Dolphy P D'Souza.
Earlier prayer dance by Loretto school children was presented. Hubert Lobo welcomed the gathering. Sr Leena Periera H M read out the school report. Cyprian D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.
The foundation stone was laid for the construction of another floor to accommodate the English Medium High school which will commence from June for the 8th standard. The school children entertained the crowd of over 1,200 people by dances and skits
