Karkala, Mar 7: Relating to a dispute on land, a man stabbed his elder brother to death with a knife. This incident happened at Nitte Bajakala in the taluk on Sunday March 6.
Shekhar (50) was killed in the incident. His younger brother, Raju (35), has been accused of committing this murder. The murder clearly was a result of persisting differences on the ownership of a piece of land.
Raju and Shekhar lived separately and Shekhar was living in the land sanctioned to his mother. Raju who was earlier living with Shekhar, had started living in a shed separately because of differences between the two. On Sunday, Shekhar was levelling his courtyard and was getting crushed stone transported to his house with the help of three workers. Raju approached his elder brother duly drunk and objected to the proposed repair work. Shekhar did not pay heed to this demand and continued with the work.

Raju warned Shekhar of teaching a lesson, went into his house, brought out a knife and stabbed his elder brother in the neck and abdomen regions. Because of serious injuries and resultant bleeding, Shekhar breathed his last on the spot. The accused stands arrested and a case was registered in the rural police station here.
