Mangaluru, Mar 6: A man who got introduced to a lady teacher on a Kannada matrimonial site conned her of Rs 2.2 lac.
The elder brother of the victim teacher of the city had opened her profile in a Kannada matrimony site and had shared the profile of a person called Anil Chandra to his sister. He had also shared the mobile number of Anil Chandra with his sister, who used to converse with the latter everyday.
Anil had claimed that he was living in Belgium. On February 23, he had asked the lady teacher to send Rs 1.2 lac to ostensibly, help one of his relatives in Jaipur who was severely ill. The teacher believed his words and sent the money to a Kotak Mahindra bank account belonging Dr Salim Ali, whose name was given to her by Anil.
Late Anil requested her to send Rs 1 lac more to the same account on February 24. Accordingly, the gullible teacher transferred the amount.
Anil called the teacher on February 26 and said that he was coming to India. On the morning of February 26, a person called the woman teacher from +917428862622 and said that Anil Chandra was stuck in customs as he did not have a yellow tag certificate and asked her to send Rs 1.15 lac. The teacher who got suspicious this time, did not send the money and registered a complaint against the accused.
