Mangaluru, Mar 4: "The protests organized by the Christians against the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill will strengthen the hands of organizations involved with religious conversions. Religious conversion is an evil. Because of this, many families have become listless as they have been denied any government facilities. The state government framed this act in order to browbeat the organizations involved with religious conversions by extending lure. The Christian community, without realizing this, played into their hands and organized protest, which will support organizations which extend the lure to instigate religious conversions. Because of these organizations, the Christian community will also suffer," said MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty.
Shetty further said that the government had taken up the initiative to regulate such organizations through certain amendments to the existing law. He urged the Christian community not to hold protests but to join hands with the government.
He said that the government will make use of the provisions of this act without getting bogged down by lures or protests.
