Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 28: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, February 28, reported 13 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 3 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,406 out of which 119 are currently active.

As many as 28 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,846.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,72,280 as fine in 95,820 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 3 new cases were reported on Monday. The total active Covid cases are 83. A total of 15 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Udupi taluk reported 2 cases and Kundapura 1.

A total of 10,50,815 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,40,427 have received both doses and 43,088 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
