Udupi, Feb 27: High sources in the Congress party have informed that the state and central leaders of the party are trying to convince former minister Pramod Madhwaraj to stay in the party and have assured him of giving a higher position.
Pramod is keeping himself aloof from the party activities for a few years. There were rumours that he would join BJP. Local Congress leaders had submitted a report in this regard to the KPCC leaders. Local leaders had even tried to give him better responsibilities at the district level and make him a more active member.
Now the sources have confirmed that KPCC president D K Shivkumar, state incharge Surjewala, AICC chief secretary K C Venugopal and other senior leaders have spoken to Pramod Madhwaraj over phone and have assured him of giving suitable position in the party soon.
Pramod Madhwaraj confirmed that Shivakumar and Venugopal have indeed called him and spoken to him. He also said that they had asked him to meet them as soon as possible and discuss his grievances.
