Mangaluru, Feb 26: A huge protest meeting was held at Kavoor in the city by BJP Uttara mandala condemning Congress party’s obstruction to conduct assembly session and disturbing peace in the state.
Protest procession was taken from Kavoor BJP office to Kavoor junction during which anti-Congress slogans were raised by the protesters.
Addressing the protesters, MLA Dr Bharat Shetty condemned the obstruction of legislative assembly session by the Congress party and said, “Congress should have joined hands with ruling BJP is passing hundreds of pro-development acts for the progress of the state. However, they are disturbing the assembly session and holding national flag inside the assembly and thereby showing that they are anti-nationals.
“Congress could not express its views on Hijab and got together with SDPI in order to secure its vote bank. They instigated the minds of Muslim girl students who were getting educated. Educational field is equal to all. People of all castes and religion have to get educated and enter into the main stream of the society. However, they have given priority to religion than education and have showed their narrow mind of taking the Muslim girl students back to Stone Age from modern times.
“Communal Muslim goondas killed Bajrang Dal activist Harsha in Shivamogga and showed their cruelty. We have caught the assailants within six hours and have sent them to jail. BJP government has controlled the situation in a determined manner and has given clear warning that it will not tolerate such acts during its rule. This is a conspiracy to create communal disturbance during the regime of BJP and malign the name of BJP.
“Earlier, attempt was made to put fire to Bunder police station in Mangaluru in the pretext of protesting against CAA. Attempt was made to create communal violence in KG Halli by torching the house of Dalit MLA of Congress. Leaders of Congress party themselves have kept a distance from the Dalit MLA of their party without coming to his assistance.
“In certain gram panchayats of Mangaluru north legislative assembly constituency, SDPI and Congress are holding power by mutual alliance. If Congress members want to distance themselves from communal forces, they have to resign immediately and come out,” he said.
BJP president of Uttara Mandala Tilakraj Krishnapura, BJP district secretary Pooja Pai, vice president Ganesh Hosbettu, district media incharge Randeep Kanchan, chief secretaries Rajesh Kottari, Sandeep Pacchanady, members of MCC, president and members of gram panchayats, chiefs of various morchas, mandala leaders and BJP activists were present.
