Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 21: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, February 21, reported 15 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 21 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,301 out of which 271 are currently active.

As many as 64 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,840.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,48,380 as fine in 95,637 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 21 new cases were reported on Monday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 187. A total of 30 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Udupi taluk reported 19 cases, Kundapura 1 and 1 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,50,393 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,25,906 have received both doses and 42,869 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
