Kasargod, Jan 4: Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has asked the heads of all the mutts in the country to come together. He said that this unity, once it happens, will be to the advantage of the whole nation. He was delivering the benedictory address at the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations of the ascension to the seat of Edaneeru Mutt head by Sri Keshavananda Bharati Swamiji.

“Edaneeru Swamiji had contributed greatly to the efforts being made for the conservation of the ancient religion, through the suit he had filed in Supreme Court. This suit has paved way for the renovation and protection of all the prayer centres in India. He was the first to put forth the plea for the independence of prayer centres,” he said.

Edaneeru Swamiji, while delivering his address, was in tears, seeing the presence of thousands of people at the ceremony. He said that he had not done anything great, and whatever he had done, was possible only because of the love and affection showered on him by his disciples and fans.

Nitte University chancellor, N Vinaya Hegde, MP, K C Venugopal, Karnataka Bank non-executive chairman, Anantakrishna, entrepreneur from Bangalore, K M Krishnappa, and several other dignitaries were present. Retired principal, Prof Padoor Sripati Tantry, delivered the felicitation address. Well-known singer, Shashidhar Kote, presented the programme.

On this occasion, silver Tulabhara of Edaneeru Swamiji was performed.
