Udupi, Feb 21: Staff and personnel of Koosamma Shetty Memorial and Haji Abdullah Hospital for Mother and Child in the city on Monday February 21 launched a protest against the hospital over non-payment of salaries
The protestors said that they had not been paid salaries for the past three months.
Work in both inpatient and outpatient departments have been completely stalled. All the 153 personnel of the hospital are sitting as protest.
Dr Swarnalatha, medical superintendent of the hospital said, "Government has not released salaries for staff for the past three months. Earlier also we staged protest for the same reason.
"Patients are facing the inconvenience. Management is not responding to our demands. Only emergency ward is functioning. All other departments have stopped working," she said.
Ansar Ahmed, leader of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike said, "The issue of Hijab is being discussed throughout the state. The work of inciting enmity between different religions is being done. MLA of Udupi should give up such work and respond immediately to the needs of staff of this hospital. Otherwise Karnataka Rakshana Vedike will stage fierce protest."
