Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 20: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, February 20, reported 14 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 23 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,286 out of which 322 are currently active.

As many as 53 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,838.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,48,380 as fine in 95,637 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 23 new cases were reported on Sunday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 196. A total of 58 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.

Udupi taluk reported 13 cases, Kundapura 5 and 4 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,48,837 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,23,737 have received both doses and 42,869 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
