Bagalkot, Feb 20: “Vermilion (kumkum), bangles and vibhuti are scientific. They are not worn for fashion or show off. They have thousands of years of history and tradition. If anyone questions wearing or donning them, we will retaliate and slit their tongue," warned Pramod Muthalik, national president of Sri Rama Sene.
Speaking to scribes, Muthalik said, "Uniform refers only to clothes, so speak only about that. We will not tolerate if someone speaks about Ganapati puja, Saraswati puja, vermillion and bangles, we will slit their tongue."
He further said, "There is Islamization behind the Hijab issue. Not only Hijab, they wear burqa also. In future they will ask permission to perform Namaz. The modus operandi of forcing themselves into countries phase by phase is clear in the history of Islam itself.
"Muslim girl students should not give importance to the Islamic forces who are backing them. They should give importance to the education. If you want job, do not ask permission to wear Hijab. Education is required for job and not Hijab," he said.
Leader of opposition Siddaramaiah reacted to Pramod Muthalik that they will cut the tongues of people who speak against vermilion and bangles. He said, "It is the job of the ruling government to create healthy society and educate students in the state. Stringent action should be taken against those who try to disturb peace.
"The issue of Hijab should have been resolved through DCs. Strict action should be taken against Muthalik. Today he has given a inciting statement. Tomorrow someone else will follow him. People live in fear. Our land is one where people of all faiths live together. Muthalik should be taken to task," said Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah questioned the ruling BJP government on the Hijab issue and said, "Do not give inciting statements without understanding the issues of the country. All Indians should be united. No one should hurt others by their speech or actions. What is the issue if some one sports Hijab or Sindhur?"
