Udupi, Jan 3: A Uttar Pradesh-based worker drowned in Arbian Sea on Sunday January 2, while executing the work relating to the laying of pipeline pertaining to Udupi Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL – formerly Nagarjuna).
He has been identified as Vipin Kumar (25), a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. For drawing sea water for the power project, several pipes had been laid by the power plant last year at Yermal seashore. Some additional pipes are being laid additionally now by the company. When several workers ventured into the sea water to check the position of the new pipelines, Vipin, who was one among them, slipped and fell into the water. He was immediately taken out of water and taken to hospital, but Vipin breathed his last before medical help could be provided to him.
A case was registered in Padubidri police station in this connection on Sunday.
