Udupi: While Taking Bath, Student Drowns in River

Udupi, Jan 1: A student, who had ventured into River Sita along with his friends, drowned on Thursday December 30. He has been identified as Bharat (18), son of Shiva Poojary from Hanehalli Garadimane.

Bharat was a second PU student, studying in Barkur. On Thursday, he along with some friends had taken to River Sita near Hanehalli Railway Bridge for taking bath. Reportedly, while swimming in the river, he was sucked in by strong undercurrent.

On a complaint filed by Lakshman Poojary, uncle of Bharat, a case was registered in this connection, at Brahmavar police station.
