Bantwal, Dec 28: “The Kannadigas who are fed up with the corruption of the BJP-led state administration are likely to vote for Congress in the forthcoming ZP and TP polls. Congress activists are enthusiastically taking part in the poll campaign,” said veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary.
Addressing media persons at the block Congress office here on Tuesday December 28, he foretold that the Congress will secure a majority in ZP polls in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and all taluks.
“The investigations into the Belekeri mining scam have not been effectively conducted as a conspiracy has been hatched to make officers the scapegoats and to save Chief Minister (CM) B S Yeddyurappa and his followers,” alleged Poojary. He urged Yeddyurappa to tender his resignation with regard to the disappearance of mining stocks.
“The Reddy brothers are swindling the mineral deposits of the state by carrying out illegal mining activities. Yeddyurappa, who has allowed them to continue mining should step down on moral grounds,” he added.
“The BJP-led state administration has disregarded the Governor who has the powers to advise the state and the CM within the framework of law,” said Poojary.
When the media persons asked Poojary about the differences within Bantwal block Congress, he said that party activists are assets of the party. “A few of the party activists are unhappy as they were not issued tickets to contest in the ZP and TP polls. The tickets were issued to the most loyal party activists. Veteran Congress leader B Sadanand Poonja had been given chance to contest in the past and the party has full confidence in him. He has been actively working along with other party men for the victory of
Congress,” said Poojary.
“Sadanand Malli and Santhosh Kumar Bhandary who were Congressmen are now contesting on a BJP ticket in the ZP polls from Goltamajalu constituency. They have been given many opportunities to mend their ways within the party in vain. The voters are likely to teach them a lesson soon,” he stressed.
District Congress Committee (DCC) president B Ramanath Rai, Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, Chandrahas Karkera, Abbas Ali, Mayilappa Narayan, and Dolphy Prashanth were present on the occasion.
