Udupi, Dec 28: “Voters who are fed up with the misrule of the BJP-led state administration will favour the JD(S) in the forthcoming ZP and TP elections,” said JD(S) leader and former state minister Zameer Ahmed. He added that he was foreseeing the dissolution of the BJP-led state administration in just one month.
Ahmed was addressing voters during his election campaign in Hejmady, near here, on Sunday December 26. “The BJP led state administration with their prime objective of rural development, are engaged in corruption and are competing with the Congress-led state administrations that ruled in the past. JD(S) former minister Abdul Nazir Saab was the veteran of rural development and he began the decentralization of power during his tenure,” added Ahmed.
“Former chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde and former prime minister Deve Gowda laid special emphasis on rural development. Former chief minister Kumaraswamy was the succour of the rural people, as he had embarked on village stays during his reign”, he stressed. Ahmed said that these reasons were likely to cause voters to cast their votes in favour of the JD(S).
He announced a donation of Rs 10 lac from his Trust for the building of a mosque at Hejmady. Ahmed also assured that if the JD(S) came to power in the state and he became a minister, he would try to get state funds to the tune of Rs 50 lac for the infrastructural development of this same mosque.
Ahmed also challenged that if the BJP gets 60 percent of seats in the forthcoming ZP and TP elections, he would shave his moustache and head and serve as watchman for a day at the residence of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
JD(S) district president Deviprasad Shetty, former minister and JD(S) state vice-president Amarnath Shetty, state minority unit president Shakil Nawaz, Hamza Ahmed, Narayan Bhandary, Ummer Farouq, Uday Shetty, A K Suleiman, Sudhakar Shetty, Vasudev Rao, and ZP contestant Y Gangadhar Suvarna were present on the dais.
