Udupi, Dec 27: JDS leader and MLA, Zameer Ahmed, said that he will tonsure his head and shave off his moustache, before working for a week as watchman at state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa’s house, if the BJP succeeds in mustering 60% of votes polled, as claimed by leaders of that party. He was addressing a meeting organized at Hejmady village near Padubidri in the district on Sunday December 26, in support of JDS candidates.
“Yeddyurappa, overtaken by anxiety about losing his Chief Ministership, promised to his party high command that he will ensure that his party will get 60% of votes polled. But, this is impossible, as the party is fully immersed in corruption,” he added.
He hailed former Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy, for being the first to raise the banner of protest against corrupt practices of the BJP. “At the instance of the BJP high command, Yeddyurappa is working as an ad hoc Chief Minister. Instead of achieving progress of the state, Yeddyurappa has achieved the progress of his close ones and the family,” he ridiculed.
Former minister, Amarnath Shetty, state president of JDS minority wing, Shakil Nawaz, and JDS district president, Deviprasad Shetty, also addressed the crowd. On this occasion, a number of activists from the BJP and Congress were welcomed into the JDS fold.
Zilla panchayat candidates, Gangadhar Suvarna, Khairunnisa, taluk panchayat candidates, Sudhakar Shetty and Lalita Kotian, party leaders, A K Sulaiman, Ranjan Shetty, Ummer Farooq, and several others were present.
