Mangalore, Dec 23: Western Institute of Technology in association with the Infant Jesus Shrine presented ‘Western Christmas Nite 2010' at the Infant Jesus Shrine Grounds, Bikarnakatte here on Wednesday December 22.
The president of Western Institute of Technology, Walter Stephen Mendes, escorted all the guests
to the dais. Flora Mendes welcomed the guests and the gathering.
On the occasion, Western Institute of Technology also declared its new Karate Institute in town.
Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain inaugurated the Karate Institute by lighting the traditional lamp along with Fr George Santhumayor, Fr Nelson, Br James Rosario from Kolkata and Anand K, Sensei.
Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra appreciated all the job-oriented courses offered by Western Institute of Technology and also said that a lot of students are getting job opportunities through Western Institute of Technology.
Fr George Santhumayor said that In Western Institute of Technology the youth are given a lot of opportunities to develop their personality. Anand K from Udayavani appreciated the social activities conducted by Western Institute of Technology and conveyed about the new courses and concepts
offered by Western Institute of Technology.
WIT president Walter Stephan Mendes inaugurated Western Karate School and also informed
the audience regarding the 13 Diploma, Associate Degree and Degree courses which is approved and
certified by IGNOU. It will commence from January 1, 2011. WIT will also be providing placement
opportunities for students who have excelled in their academics.
There was a formal inauguration of Western Karate School. The Karate kids displayed their talent and
gave a wonderful performance. National Level Karate Competition will be conducted in Moodbidri on January 4, 5 and 6, 2011.
Br James D’Rosario and team from Kolkata were the special guest of the event who enthralled the
audience with wonderful Gospel Hymns.
The students of Western Institute of Technology sung and also danced to the tunes of Christmas Carols.
Further the teams of different parishes participated in variety entertainment vompetition in which
Bishop Sargent Church bagged the first place who bagged Rs 5,000 cash prize and trophy. The second
place was won by Milagres Church, Mangalore who were given away Rs 2,500 cash prize and trophy.
Fr Walter D’Mello, parish priest of Milagres Church distributed the prizes.
Mrs Florence Mendes conveyed the vote of thanks.
