Beltangady, Dec 23: Chairman of Karnataka Minority Commission, N B Abubakar, said that the BJP, after coming to power in the state, has released grants for the construction of 240 Shadi Mahals in the state, through the state Minorities Development Corporation.

He said that out of them, 30 Shadi Mahals will come up in Dakshina Kannada district, explaining that Rs 20 lac in rural areas and Rs 50 lac in urban centres is being released for this purpose. He said that the party candidates, during their first round of canvassing, found that they are welcomed at every household they visited. Poojary said that as per the manifesto, the party will lay emphasis on empowering the gram sabhas, invigorating taluk panchayts under the third finance scheme report, releasing two crore rupees grant to taluk panchayats, and giving facilities equivalent to a cabinet minister to the zilla panchayat presidents. He further said that the development grant of one crore rupees being sanctioned to the legislators will be released by the government in phases.
