Udupi, Dec 23: Congress leader, M A Gafoor, informed that a mega electioneering meeting connected with the coming zilla and taluk panchayat elections would be organized at Gandhi Maidan Brahmavar near here, at 3.30 pm on Saturday December 25.

He disclosed that union minister, M Veerappa Moily, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr Parameshwar, opposition leader in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, All India Congress Committee general secretary, Oscar Fernandes, and several other leaders will be seeking votes for the party candidates at the said meeting.

Gafoor feels that the people of the state are frustrated under the BJP rule, because of the land scam, nepotism, plundering of iron ore, and internal bickering in that party for power. He said that the union government led by the Congress has laid emphasis on providing basic necessities like water, road, education etc., for rural places, besides implementing welfare schemes like employment guarantee scheme and strengthening of gram panchayats. He therefore, believes that his party has earned the goodwill and support of the people in general.

He expressed the faith that the people will extend their support to the Congress to enable the party to implement people-friendly schemes with added vigour.  He has requested the people to properly think before casting their votes in the coming elections.
