Mangalore, Dec 21: At the executive committee meeting of the Arogya Raksha scheme held here on Monday December 20, it was decided to sanction a sum of Rs 1.61 crore for the development of Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals in the city. The meeting was presided over by Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav.
Out of the above, Rs 1.30 crore will go to Wenlock hospital, where works like telephone connections to all the wards, establishment of liquid medical oxygen plant for supplying uninterrupted oxygen to intensive care unit, cardiac intensive care unit, operation theatres and regional advanced pediatric care centre, fixing of bedside lockers, buying of 50 railing cots and 150 patient cots etc., through tender process. It was also decided to buy an endoscopy unit at a cost of Rs 20 lac and an audiometric machine at Rs 4.5 lac. A part of the said sum also goes to fix vitrified tiles to the floors and glazed tiles to walls. Rs 30.90 lac will be spent for different development works in Lady Goschen hospital.
The deputy commissioner asked the district surgeon and superintendent of the hospital to take up steps to enhance the appearance of the hospital in consultation with Kasturba Medical Hospital.
District health and family welfare officer, Dr O R Srirangappa, assistant drug controller, R S Shah, representative of city corporation commissioner, Dr M M Shetty and C B Navalagunda, representative of PWD executive engineer, were present.
