Puttur, Dec 21: Several veteran congress leaders in Kadaba block are angry at the party leadership for not heeding to their requests for tickets for the zilla and taluk panchayat elections. A number of taluk panchayat ticket aspirants have started an internal turmoil within the party, which may spill out to the detriment of the party, unless district level leadership of the party addresses the situation at the earliest.

Syed Mira Saheb, former zilla panchayat member, who was confident of bagging another opportunity to the fight the election this time till the last minute, is disillusioned after his name did not figure in the list of candidates allotted with a Congress party ticket. The list was released by the party on Monday. Addressing a press conference at Press Club here on Monday December 20, he said that he would be deserting the party, and demanded for the resignation of the district Congress president, B Ramanath Rai.

“Congress has now ceased to be a party having concern for minorities. It is now a coterie of powerful and power-hungry people. If we peruse the list of candidates to whom the party has issued tickets for the ensuing elections, we realize that the minorities, particularly the Muslims, have been totally sidelined by it. Congress has always banked on its backbone, dalits and Muslms. The party’s district leader appears to be not in need of their support anymore. That is why he is ineligible to continue in that post,” he said in an angry rhetoric.

He claimed that Kadaba block Congress leaders like Ray Abraham, Satish Poojary, H Abraham, Jainabi, Gunavati, Kusuma and some others, in protest against the falling principles of the party, have resigned from the Congress.
